Should the screening age for colon cancer be lowered?
Colon cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths in Canada.
The Canadian Cancer Society estimates that about one in 16 men and one in 18 women will develop colorectal cancer during their lifetime. The disease also makes up about 11 per cent of all cancer deaths in Canada.
But while most older adults know the importance of screening, a much younger generation of Canadians is now confronting an illness they didn’t know they had to worry about.
