Mozart / Piano Concerto No. 8 in C major, K. 246: 3rd mvt (Anda)
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791)
Piano Concerto No. 8 in C major ("Lützow"), K. 246 (1776)
3. Rondeau: Tempo di Menuetto
Géza Anda (Piano & Conductor) and Camerata Academica des Salzburgers Mozarteums perform.
"The Piano Concerto in C major (K. 246) is almost a duplicate of [the sixth], except that the Andante is more pastoral and innocent in character, and the Rondo, a Tempo di minuetto with a piquant theme, withholds its trumps until after the cadenza. For this movement, incidentally, although not for the first and second movements, Mozart wrote out the cadenza in the score. The work was composed for Countess Antonia von Lützow, the second wife of the Commandant of the Veste Hohensalzburg, Johann Nepomuk Gottfried Count Lützow. The Countess was a pupil of Leopold's, and Mozart could write for her just as well as for himself, with little need of making concessions to her limitations. At any rate, he played the Concerto himself in Vienna, or wished to play it, for on 10 April 1782, he asked his father to send him the score." - Alfred Einstein
