The Connecticut Serial Killer on Route 8

The Route 8 Serial Killer has been active in Connecticut for decades. Many of his victims have been found along Route 8, north of Waterbury. Some suspect William Devin Howell or the New Bedford Highway Killer, but the Route 8 serial killer has never been identified.

The Connecticut State Homicide Task Force was formed in 1992 to investigate 19 unsolved homicides. They identified three shared profile points among these cold cases, and they began investigating the possibility that a serial killer was active in the area. The perpetrator is targeting drug addicts and night workers; they are deceased by the same cause, and they are found in varying states of undress.

The Route 8 serial killer may be responsible for the unsolved cold cases of Karen Everett, Mildred Alvarado, Olga Maria Cornieles-Ubiera, Lori Delgado, Frederica Spinola, Elizabeth Grzywacz, Jessica Muskus, and Brianna Beam. However, there are countless others that fit this victim profile.

Some true crime researchers suggested the New Bedford Highway Killer, who was active in Massachussets just a few years earlier. This unidentified perpetrator shares the same victim profile and modus operandi. Others have suggested the captured William Devin Howell for this same reason. However, law enforcement have not named any suspects in these cases, and it remains unsolved to this day.
