President Donald Trump said Iran has reached out after the collapse of the Islamabad talks, claiming Tehran “wants to make a deal very badly” but stressing that any agreement must exclude a nuclear weapons capability. He reiterated that Iran “will never have a nuclear weapon” and warned there will be no deal if it refuses to accept that condition.

Trump also confirmed the start of a US‑led blockade of ships entering and leaving Iranian ports in the Strait of Hormuz, asserting that Iran is now doing “no business” and that this pressure will continue. He signaled that more countries may join the effort, with details expected soon, while warning that the situation could turn “unpleasant” if Iran does not move toward a deal within two weeks.

Despite the tough stance, Trump said he wants the conflict to end and noted that Chinese President Xi Jinping also supports a resolution. He praised Vice President JD Vance for his role in the failed negotiations, which collapsed over Iran’s refusal to agree to forgo a nuclear weapon. The remarks come amid sharply heightened regional tensions and a growing risk of further escalation after the breakdown of the Islamabad talks.
