Restoration Legendary Zulfiqar Sword

Hi! Today, the restoration of a legendary rare Zulfikar sword. With a huge history. The sword is not mine. I was asked to restore this sword. And I did it. The condition of the item is below average. There is no scabbard, no hilt, no guard. And also the object is covered with a thick layer of rust. I'll fix it now. I'm starting to restore the item.

First, I cleaned the surface of the sword from rust with a spatula and an iron brush. Next, I placed the blade in a rust remover. And after a while took it out. Next, the sword placed it in a vessel with water and baking soda to neutralize the effect of acid. Next was the cleaning with sandpaper and other cleaning products.

I did not sand the blade mechanically, and I practically try not to do this, because the blade, the sword, will lose its entire history. After cleaning the blade, I washed it, oiled it and moved on to the guard.
The guard was provided to me by the customer himself, but the guard seller did not take into account the dimensions. And I had to adjust everything manually, which took more than four hours.
I made the handle Zulfikar of the out of dry wood, fitted it to the guard, and then began to mount the hilt to the sword. I used copper rivets, epoxy resin. After drying, I treated the handle and added decoration. I used chisels to add decoration elements to the wood, as well as brass. After finishing the handle, I moved on to the scabbard.

The scabbard was very difficult to make. Firstly, this type of scabbard implies a large design and size calculation, since there are two blades and the thickness is large. I used dry larch and after gluing I moved on to processing. The processing took just as long. As a result, the scabbard turned out, of course, not as light as for a dagger or a saber, heavier, but they work and everything is in order. Next, I cut out a special groove to fit the sword guard into the scabbard.

I glued the scabbard with two types of natural leather. It has thick green leather and dark green thin leather. I divided it into two parts. After gluing, I added nickel silver fittings, processed and also added decorative elements to the scabbard. After completing all the minor work, the blade and scabbard were completely ready, and I am very happy because this restoration took a very long time. Please, to share this video, it's very important to me. Thanks!

Sincerely, Alex. Thanks for attention!
Good luck and health to everyone! With best wishes, Alex!
