A man in Tainan seems to have taken his passion for snacks and DIYs a step too far. He recently pulled up to his local drink shop wearing a helmet made of sweet and crispy shachima packets. Needless to say, the shopkeeper was left open-jawed at the unconventional invention. A video of his arrival has gone viral online, and unfortunately for the man, among the watchers were police officers.
The helmet was fashioned from about 50 packets of fried dough snacks. At NT$5 per packet, the material costs of the home-made helmet was just about NT$250. But if you also count the fine he was slapped for not wearing a valid helmet, the price of the stunt goes up quite a bit. Police officers have fined him NT$500, urging the man to wear proper protection to stay safe on the road.
