The Magnificent Roman Colosseum, Rime Italy!

The Colosseum of Rome just may be my favorite landmark of all time. Its magnificence dominates the center of the Eternal City of Rome, surrounded by the Roman Forum and just up from the fantastic Piazza Venezia.

Amazing how the place still stands with its limestone and volcanic rocks after two thousand years, a true shrine to the great history of the city and a window to one of history's great empires.

The Colosseum ticket can be lumped in with tickets to the Roman Forum or you can do it individually. Tickets are good for two days or one visit, if you want them to be, to give you time to take it all in. I love this colosseum, tho. Just awesome and impressive.

The steps are steep getting up and down. There's not many of them, but it'll be your stair master for the day. Them old school Romans must have been really tall.

Hard to believe the Colosseum held up to eighty thousand people in its hey-day. It must have been some spectacle - and it was the largest amphitheater of the time.

There's a nice little historical museum to check out once inside, too, but the true entertainment is the Colosseo itself. You have the option of a tour guide or you can walk around, take it all in and research the fun facts at your own liesure.

After another long day of walking, had to stop for a bite after the Colosseum tour. And man was it good.
