We see lots of footage of families picking corn by hand and a draft mule team pulling the wagon to the barn. After that, antique equipment is used to shell and grind the corn. Some of the corn meal is used to make corn cakes that are cooked in cast iron skillets over an open fire.
Joe interviews Boyd "the mule man" Sandulsky who runs the event. He talks about the corn that is grown there. It is a heritage corn - open pollinated "Boone County White". He talks about how it was planted, grown harvested, and used in the past when he was a child. He explains how the wagon and bang board work. He also explains how the cobs were used to make dolls, cob fights and fire starters.
We watch close ups of the 100 year old corn mill that is belt driven by a tractor motor.
We listen to the 3rd Thursday Barn Band throughout the video.
