Sounds From The Corner : Session #5 HiVi

I was on my way to @ilhamaditama's crib at Lebak Bulus when I heard the super catchy single "Curi-curi" played on the radio. Obviously, it was not my first time hearing the high rotation single from pop quartet HiVi! aired. Between my tiny humming and capital city's chaos traffic, I remembered that not so long before that, another mammoth ballad single from HiVi! called "Orang Ketiga" was bombing all over the place. You name it: YouTube, pensi (school concerts), and radio charts.

If you are watching this video, you could easily realize that as a band, HiVi is a complete package of allurements: Fun and smart music, fresh and dandy look of today's Pop youth plus splendid vocal harmonization between Ilham, Dalila, Febri and Ezra. The last name mentioned is possibly the main reason why this session was made: the guitarist will leave Indonesia for study. With their friends, colleague and SFTC (of course), the band arranged a house party in Ilham -- one of the vocalist's house.

During the set, a surprising cover version of The Groove's Khalayan was a good reminiscence for me. The whole music in live set is far more entertaining than just listening to the CD. Lots of nice hooks, pretty much polished for Pensi Gig. I could imagine these songs applied in a school gig, followed with the screaming audience. Coupled with uplifting arrangements, the additional players were a perfect addition to the team. Ladies and Gentlemen, Sounds From The Corner presents: HiVi. Enjoy!
