The Mazda Concept is a car that might just bring us closer to the perfect sports car coupe than we ever dreamed of seeing. However, when we think of Toyota, it would probably steal the show with its numerous mobility and car concepts. When we consider the quirky stuff like the “Land Hopper,” which has proved to be a here-wheeled mobility prototype instead of a mini Land Cruiser for the compact SUV class, then you definitely know that we are in for a real treat from the Japanese automaker.
When you start thinking about what Toyota has to offer in the coming year, you will start getting overwhelmed. But there’s more. And this time, it is with a focus on the American market. Not so long ago, the Japanese automaker also started the marketing campaign for the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show, which is on November 17–26, with a dark photo showing a mysterious car from the front. And from the shape of the silhouette that was there, anyone could tell that it was the all-new ninth-generation XV80 Camry mid-size sedan.
Well, ever since the teaser, there have been people who have created CGI looks for the XV80 Toyota Camry. And even if they worry that it’s a mistake, they are probably on to something. Fortunately for them, there is a very reasonable opinion about their unofficial depiction of the all-new four-door sedan. The mid-size king feels a bit more mature and stylish than before. In addition, the CGI looks to showcase the exterior in many ritzy colors, which we can only hope to see. In addition to all that, there’s also a quick showcase of the interior and some old renderings to compare.
At the moment, all we can do is speculate on what to expect regarding the powertrain. There is a very great chance that the eighth-generation Camry lineup will be hybrid only. There is a very high likelihood that Toyota will use the new Prius’ powertrain as the base setup for the 2025 Toyota Camry. This means it comes with a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine, which will be combined with an electric motor. Together, they will give the new Camry about 194 horsepower, all of which will be sent to the front wheels through a CVT transmission. There is a possibility of an all-wheel-drive variant that could add a second rear electric motor, bringing the total output to about 196 horsepower.
When it comes to an upgraded powertrain, there could be a couple of options. Toyota could decide to offer the new Camry in a plug-in hybrid variant, which could use the Prius Prime’s powertrain, offering about 220 horsepower.
Right now, we all know that the Japanese automaker is not reserving its Gazoo Racing (GR) models for sports cars. It already cranked up the heat on the humble Corolla hatchback with a turbocharged all-wheel-drive GR Corolla. And from the moment it was released, some people have described it as ‘a hilariously fun driving tool with a unique rally-car feel.’
Since no official announcement has been made about the 2025 Toyota Camry, we cannot be sure about other features, such as the safety features. However, we can expect it to come with the Safety Sense 2.5+ suite on every eighth-generation Camry. On the other hand, Toyota has already rolled out the TSS 3.0 system on several of the brand’s new models. This includes the latest Prius. Because of this, there is a high likelihood that Toyota will add its latest tech to its midsize sedan, with some of the features being pre-collision avoidance with pedestrian detection, lane departure avoidance, adaptive cruise control.
Apart from all that, we can expect the 2025 Toyota Camry to come with a lot of modern technology.
