Toyota has taken yet another bold step to add another car to an already popular lineup. The Toyota Crown has been one of the automaker’s best sellers worldwide, with many people loving its style and practicality. Now, they have added the Toyota Crown Sport, which is still in the same group as the Toyota Crown. Think of it as a sportier version of the regular Toyota Crown. This means you can expect some upgrades to the powertrain and the design. There might even be some changes to the interior as well. But we’ll find that out in a few.

Toyota has released quite a number of cars this year. This seems to have been an excellent year for the automaker. They have managed to add more cars to their already extensive lineup and upgrade some existing ones. Now, the Toyota Crown Sport has already made its debut in the Japanese market. This extends the lineup of electrified models under the Crown badge. However, each car differs from the other, and the same can be said about the Crown Sport.
The first difference that is very noticeable is the names. Toyota had indeed chosen some confusing names for its new four-member Crown family. This is considering that the jacked-up sedan being sold in the United States is known as the Crown Crossover in Japan. Apart from that, they have now introduced the Crown Sport crossover. There is also a Crown Estate, but this is not a wagon as it takes the shape of a larger SUV than the sport. But at the end of it all, the saving grace is the regular Crown Sedan.
What makes the profile of the Crown Sport stand out is the sculpted bodywork and the toned-up rear fenders. They do a great job making the 21-inch alloy wheels stand out even more, giving it a bolder profile. The rear end has also had some adjustments, making it look sportier. Now, it houses horizontally arranged LED taillights, a narrow and heavily inclined windscreen, and vertical outlets on the rear bumper.
In terms of dimensions, the Crown Sport will measure about 4,720 mm long, 1,880 mm wide, and 1,565 mm tall. Compared to the Crown Crossover, the Crown Sport will be 260 mm shorter, 40 mm wider, and 25 mm taller. The effect of this difference in dimensions is felt in the cabin. And in this case, it is safe to assume that the Crown Sport has more headroom and equal, if not smaller, legroom.
This car has all the modern technology, including the latest iteration of Toyota’s Safety Sense ADAS suite. This means you get features like Proactive Driving Assist and Toyota Teammate Advanced Drive for assistance in traffic congestion. That is a fairly new feature added to the safety suite, but it is totally worth it. It is clear that any technology you can think of getting in a car is already there. And that’s not the best part about the car yet.
The 2024 Toyota Crown Sport will come with a choice of two powertrain options. The first one will be a self-charging hybrid, which will use a 2.5-liter E-Four Parallel Hybrid System, the same one found on the Crown Crossover. This engine will be capable of giving it about 231 horsepower. Even better, all this power will be distributed to all four wheels through an electric 4WD system.
As much as there are more than enough Crown variants, you can be sure that there will be more. The automaker plans to expand the Crown lineup further by introducing the Crown Sedan in November. After that, the automaker will introduce the Crown Estate, which will be a large SUV, in 2024. This will join the existing Crown Crossover and expand its lineup.
There are a lot of features to love about the 2024 Toyota Crown Sport. And with all these features, one can only imagine how it performs on the road.
