Val-U-Therm® Building Panel Manufacturing Process

The factory quality controlled off-site construction process produces a building panel that is a hybrid between SIPs (structural insulated panels) and timber frame. Monitoring of the manufacturing process by the British Board of Agrément takes place every six months as part of the requirement of certificate 12/4892 that notes panels will have a 60-year minimum life. The process covers computer aided design, CAD/CAM manufacture, optimising saw, framing station, gluing & nailing sheathing on both sides to form a closed panel with a computer controlled nailing bridge, panel turnover using butterfly tables, stacking the panels for the Val-U-Therm press, injecting the panels with insulation based on recycled vegetable oil using a computer controlled high pressure (100 bar) system, fitting the VCL & battens, installing the breather membrane and the factory-fitted windows & doors.
