First, this is the biggest form of stimulus available that applies to 66% of households: if you own real estate, take mortgage forbearance. Mortgage forbearance let’s you stop making payments for up to 12 months and all you have to do is say you have hardship - you do NOT Have to prove your hardship or do any paperwork.
As long as you have a federally backed loan which means you bought with a conventional or FHA or VA loan, you have the right to have up to 12 months of forbearance! On repayment, VA actually has the worst options, which isn’t very fair, but FHA and conventional loans let you - by law - take whatever amount of money you didn’t pay during, and add it to the back of the loan.

Interest rates fell to a new low of under 3% for a 30-year fixed rate mortgage - these are insanely cheap rates.
Just a heads up: refinances are very slow right now, so expect to wait fo your refinance to get done. It could take as long as 2-3 months.
If you took mortgage forbearance, remember you need to have made your payments again for at least 3 months to qualify for a refinance.

If your self employed or your boss will let you, stop paying the 6.2% of your payroll taxes if you make less than $4,000 biweekly. I recommend putting this aside until the payroll tax deferral becomes an official tax cut. If it doesn’t become a tax cut, you’ll have to pay the money back.

If you are self employed OR employed, and your income has been cut dramatically, consider applying for unemployment. You might be surprised to find you’re eligible for retroactive payments for weeks that you were partially or fully unemployment even if you’re self employed.
