In 2053, after a catastrophic military experiment destroys the ozone layer and turns Earth into a radioactive wasteland scorched by deadly bursts of ultraviolet light known as “brights,” a desperate group of strangers sets out from the frontier town of Jericho toward the rumored sanctuary of Neon City. Traveling aboard a heavily armored transport driven by a former convict, the passengers — including a doctor, a bounty hunter with a dangerous prisoner, a mysterious old man, a prostitute, a spoiled heiress, and a failed comedian — must survive toxic storms, collapsing roads, savage heat, and ruthless nomadic raiders. But as the journey grows more dangerous, it becomes clear that none of them are truly who they claim to be.
