On the remote Wind River Reservation in Wyoming, a teenage Powwow Princess, an Arapaho journalist, and a Shoshone elder haunted by his experiences in Vietnam embark on a journey to uncover the fate of their people’s lost ancestral artifacts. Hidden away in museum and church archives, drums, pipes, eagle wing fans, medicine bags, weapons, and ceremonial attire lie forgotten, their meaning fading with time. Stripped from their communities and controlled by outsiders who barely understand them, these treasures hold the secrets of a culture yearning to reclaim its own history. As the trio ventures beyond the reservation, they confront haunting questions: Can they recover what was taken? Can these objects restore connection to their past? And, ultimately, what truths do these lost artifacts hold about identity, memory, and survival?
