About the project:
- Madison were looking to expand their overall cubic footprint without the need to extend their existing warehouse, and called upon SEC Storage once again, having worked with us in the past on multiple projects (one being nominated at the 2015 SHD Logistics Awards) to supply and install a temporary storage unit to house the company’s marketing collateral
- This new unit, comprised of two connected storage and logistics structures was supplied and installed with allowances being made to include a double skin ‘Thermo Roof’ to combat the effects of condensation
- Each roof cover consists of 5m wide sections which were then inserted into the grooves of the structural building profile. Each section was filled with air and then pressurised following assembly. The system allows for an even distribution of air throughout the roof space, creating the appearance of a conventional Apex roof
- The walls of the structure are made of a rigid, single-skin cladding comprised of galvanised steel with a 40mm profile. Two roller shutter doors were installed with electronic controls, providing easy access to warehouse operatives and delivery vehicles
- This temporary storage unit was designed to work in full compliance with building regulation BS6399, in order to defy the effects of snow and wind on buildings. An essential requirement due to the nature of the products being stored and the upcoming winter season
- SEC also relocated a number of previously installed shelving systems, originally located in the adjacent warehouse area, re-purposed for the new unit and ready for the storage of Madison’s selected marketing collateral. SEC’s cost-effective solution has allowed for a substantial increase in storage capacity, negating the need for expensive third party storage and warehouse reconfiguration works
