Molten Salt Thermal Conductivity (Presentation+Interview) Dianne Ezell & Ryan Gallagher @ ORNL MSRW

Dianne Ezell is a R&D Staff in the Nuclear Experiments and Irradiation Testing Group (NEIT), within the Reactor and Nuclear Systems Division (RNSD) at ORNL. Ryan Gallagher is an Irradiation Engineer in the Nuclear Experiments and Irradiation Testing group (NEIT) of the Reactor and Nuclear Systems Division (RNSD).

To measure Thermal Conductivity of various Molten-Salts, we based our design off of J.W. Cook's 1970 variable gap design. That was a 20-year effort that finished in the 70s. The test apparatus that we've developed, if you've got a stainless steel it is about $13,000. If you went with Inconel it's about $25,000. The supporting materials would be a one-time purchase around $25,000.
