At the UN Security Council’s 80th UN Day debate, India’s Permanent Representative Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish called out Pakistan for “grave and ongoing human rights violations” in areas “illegally occupied by it,” saying those populations are in “open revolt” against **military occupation, repression, brutality, and resource exploitation.” He reaffirmed that Jammu & Kashmir has been, is, and will always be an integral and inalienable part of India, and said that people there exercise their fundamental rights under India’s democratic system — “concepts alien to Pakistan.”

He also warned that Pakistan’s narrative at the UN cannot erase its own record, and urged the global community to recognize the reality on the ground.
