In this video I show you how to make a GoPro (Hero 8) travel video from scratch:
There are 2 ways how you can make a cinematic GoPro (Hero 8) travel video from scratch. The first option is that you film your shots (unplanned), then you think of a story you could tell with your shots and then you edit your GoPro (Hero 8) travel video.
The second option is that you first think about a story you want to tell, then you film accordingly and then you edit your GoPro (Hero 8) travel video. This way is the optimal travel video workflow, but it's not the most common one, as it needs a lot of preparation. That's why in this tutorial I am focussing on the first method and then, if you would like to learn more about the second, more optimal method, you will find the second part in my GoPro filmmaking course "Action Cam Masterclass".

So there are 3 main parts you have to keep in mind, if you want to make a GoPro (Hero 8) travel video from scratch; the filming part (shoot), the story part (idea) and the editing part (edit).

Shoot:
As you film all your GoPro (Hero 8) and drone shots (I used the DJI Mavic 2 Pro) before you develop a story, you don't have to keep anything in mind while filming your travel video. And this is exactly the reason why I recommend first to develop an idea or story, and then film your shots accordingly. Like that the overall quality of your GoPro (Hero 8) travel video is much higher. However, it is also possible to get really good results with the non-optimal workflow shoot - idea - edit, especially if you follow all the points I am explaining you in this GoPro (Hero 8) tutorial.

Idea:
Developing a story for your travel video is crucial to make it most engaging, but it's hard if you didn't plan anything in advance. However, if you at least come up with a story before you start editing your GoPro (Hero 8) travel video, you can save yourself a lot of time. Additionally to an entertaining story, you also want music which supports your story telling. It's very important that you choose your song before you start editing.

Edit:
That's the part where all the magic happens during the workflow shoot - idea - edit. I guide you through all steps you have to keep in mind and I also share with you some of my secrets, how I make my GoPro travel video look the best possible, even though I didn't plan to make one and therefore have to deal with a lot of random GoPro (Hero 8) footage.
