FORTNITE WORLD CUP
Imagine if all those hours you've spent playing Fortnite finally paid off, like, literally
16 year old Kyle Giersdorf, better known as Bugha, has just scored a whopping 4.3 million dollars in prize money after being crowned the best Fortnite player in the world at the first ever Fortnite World Cup.
A stadium full of people in New York and more than 2 million viewers from around the world watched Bugha make history. He didn't just top the leaderboard in the solo comp he nearly doubled second-place finishing with 59 points. But if you think he plans to buy a mansion and a private jet with his 4.3 million, it's quite the opposite. The champ plans to save most of his prize money and only really wants a new desk and maybe another desk for his epic trophy. Hashtag humble! The World Cup was the first of its kind. With the top 100 players battling it out over 3 days of play for a grand total of 43 million dollars in prize money. Although that's just a fraction of the 3 billion Fortnite creators, Epic Games.. pocketed last year. In the duo comp the winners, Aqua, who is 16 and Nyhrox, who is 17, had to share their 4.3 million. It's official I am quitting this job and becoming a gamer!

SPORT NEWS
Australia had a really strong finish at the Swimming World Championships picking up 2 more medals in the pool on the final night. But today, the focus has been on a swimmer who wasn't at the comp. Aussie, Shayna Jack revealed she pulled out of the national squad after failing a drug test. But she says she didn't knowingly do anything wrong. The issue's got a lot of people talking. All that and more, in sport.
SWIMMING DOPING
Shayna Jack's 20 years old and she's done pretty well for Australia so far, winning gold at the Commonwealth Games. But now her career's on hold while the Aussie Sports Doping Agency investigates her failed drug test. She tested positive for a banned substance called Ligandrol. It's used to help people's muscles and bones grow stronger... usually if they have conditions like osteoporosis. Jack says she has no idea how it happened and thinks she might have taken it when another supplement was contaminated.
WOMENS ASHES
And the Aussies are also killing it in the cricket! The women’s team is undefeated in the multi-format ashes series against England after winning all the one dayers. And one T-20 with two left to play.
We've seen some big moments and winners in the world of sport. But now it's time to shine a light on some often neglected competitions. It's called sink or swim and thumbs.

FLUGTAG
This competition is all about taking to the skies for as long as possible. Which usually isn't very long. 38 teams across Russia pushed their home-made human-powered vehicles off the end of a pier because well, why not? The contraptions are all under 10 metres long and weigh approximately 150 kilograms. Flugtag as its known isn't just about aeronautics though. It's also about style, flair and creativity. Obviously.

WORLD DIVE BOMB CHAMPIONSHIPS
Speaking of style and flair, that's normally what the sport of diving is all about. But at the World Dive Bomb championships it's more about making the biggest splash! Dozens of divers made the plunge into the pool in Germany. Impressing judges with the occasional somersault and twists from up to 10 metres high!

THUMB WRESTLING
Warm up your biggest, toughest digit because this is the World Thumb Wrestling Championships in the UK! Fierce competitors of all ages have been training hard to battle it out in this tiny wrestling ring. Oh rigorous training regimes - a lot of thumb-ups on the old door frames, a lot of press-ups on the thumbs. Weighted thumb-ups. It's rigorous. There are three rounds of 60 seconds each and once you get an opposing thumb down you have to yell. The overall winners took home the glory and the golden thumb.
