Pregnant seal rescued

Naude and Katja, the founders of OCN went out to Pelican Point to check on the status of all the new seal pups and breeding groups. Usually this time of year they cannot do rescues as they do not want to disturb the mothers with their new pups. The pups cannot swim for the first 3 weeks, and they run the risk of pups drowning when seals all run into the water.
However, there was a group of seals en route to Pelican Point where they found this adult female with some string around her neck. She looked pregnant too.
They first spent time making sure there were no new pups around and they went in to try and help.
Naude managed to secure her in the net and Katja got to work cutting her free.
They had to turn her over, as there was a deep cut from the line, and they did not want to pull the whole string through the wound. Luckily the new net has a zipper underneath and Katja carefully pulled the string out.
They let her out of the front of the net and she ran back to the safety of the ocean.
