I Vow to Thee, My Country (Tune: Thaxted - 4vv) [with lyrics for congregations]

"I Vow to Thee, My Country" is a poem by the diplomat Sir Cecil Spring Rice, written in 1908 or 1912, entitled "Urbs Dei" ("The City of God") or "The Two Fatherlands". The poem describes how a Christian owes his loyalties to both his homeland and the heavenly kingdom.

The tune is 'Thaxted', adapted by Gustav Holst from the main theme to 'Jupiter' from his 'Planets' suite.

It is performed here by Wallingford Parish Church Choir and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
