THE RUSSIAN PINK TOPAZ DEMI PARURE

This was a wedding gift to grand duchess maria pavlovna, grand daughter if catherine the great and tsar nicholus l, from her father tsar paul l, when she married carl friedrick, the heriditery grand duke of saxe - weimar-eisenach in 1804.
The set features a large necklace , a small brooch with a round pendant and a large brooch.all of the pieces fetures a large central ponk topaz, sarounded by a row of diamonds.two of the pendents from the large brooch can be deattached and worn as earrings.
Following maria povlovnas death, the parure was inherited by her daughter augustus, who married king keiser wilhelm l of Germany.
Augusus and her husband had two children,
Kaiser friedrich lll(who married princess vicky - The daughter of queen Victoria and prince Albert) and princess louise , who wed grand duke of baden.
The demi parure was inherited by princess louise.
Louise left the set to her daughter, victoria of Baden , who married King Gustaf of Sweden and became the Queen consort.
But she was 60 years of age when she inherited the set and was not seen wearing them in public.
Eventhough queen victoria was not seen wearing the set, she added it to the bernodette family foundation and made sure theat the set will not leave the family.
Both queens following queen victoria, queen louise and queen silvia wore the set , usually pairing it with the braganza tiara or the connaught diamond tiara.
