Elvis Presley: I'll Be Home For Christmas
Elvis Presley recorded two Christmas albums (1957 and 1971) and a Christmas single (1966) throughout his long and successful career.
It should come as no surprise to learn that his festive recordings are among his highest-selling disks ever. Even today, they are regularly repackaged and presented to each new generation.
This ballad, originally a wartime hit for Bing Crosby, is among Presley's most beautiful Christmas recordings, and ably demonstrates how even as early as 1957 (he was just twenty-two years-old) he had gained remarkable control of his voice.
What makes it even more astonishing is to remember that during the same sessions, he'd almost screamed his way through the glorious raucous blues "Santa Claus Is Back In Town"
Turn down the lights, stoke up the fire, pour yourself a glass and enjoy the young master at work.
