Do you need a termite inspection on new construction?

When you buy a brand new home the last thing you should worry about is termites. For many years in North Carolina it was extremely rare for new houses to get termites. This was because the soil around the home was required to be treated with a termiticide labeled for pretreats. Now we have alternative treatment methods being allowed which has caused problems such as termite baits being used as pretreats. The problem with this is very often inspections are not being done with bait stations and also if you decide not to keep uo the contract your home will have zero protection. I am not at all against baits we sometimes use them also but for pretreatments they can cause issues. All im saying is if you buy new construction and see termite bait starions around the outside it is definatley worth it to get a termite inspection.
