China’s National Health Commission reported on February 11, 2020, that 108 new fatalities had been attributable to the novel coronavirus over the previous 24 hours. The daily death toll figure surpassed 100 for the first time since the outbreak started in December 2019. The global death toll was 1,018, with all but two of the fatalities being on the Chinese mainland.
On the same day, China saw 2,478 new infections, bringing that total to 42,638, as 4,013 were listed as having recovered from the illness. The World Health Organisation (WHO) on February 10 urged China to continue with “containment measures” to fight the deadly virus and fears about its continued spread worldwide.
