This one's for you, JD - Bomba's take on the Appletini
What I make when asked for an Appletini at Bomba, because believe it or not, I don’t usually have a bottle of Sour Pucker to hand!
SPECS:
20ml (2/3oz) vodka
(if you can get Zubrowka, that’s most bartenders’ go to in this drink. It is also known as ‘the bison grass vodka’ as it is infused with a particular kind of grass that gives it a really herbal and aromatic flavour, which gives this drink a real boost. Otherwise any other fuller flavoured vodka would work, like Belvedere that I'm using today)
20ml (2/3oz) apple liqueur
(I’m using Massanez Pomme Verte, but Giffard and Cartron also make good quality ones)
20ml (2/3oz) cloudy apple juice
(fresh is best - don't use concentrated apple juice)
20ml (2/3oz) lemon juice
5ml (1/6oz or a barspoon) sugar syrup
(dependant on the sweetness of your apple juice)
Apple fan garnish
(soak in lemon juice to stop it from going brown)
EQUIPMENT:
Shaker tin
Hawthorn strainer
Fine strainer
Coupe
METHOD:
Add all ingredients to shaker tin, shake on ice, strain in to coupe, garnish with apple fan.
