What Size Do Photos Need To Be On The Web
We are talking pixel dimensions here, and not bytes. Getting the pixel dimensions right will ensure you are not wasting data by serving up images that are too large for the browser.
As photographers, we need to show off our work without affecting page download speed significantly. There is a constant trade-off between the size in bytes and image quality.
Obviously, pixels dimensions affect the file size in terms of bytes.
You have to ask yourself is there a need to make an image fill a screen on every device?
We have to find a longest edge in pixels which will cover the majority of devices that will download our images - neither too large, or too small.
