DC_THURS on Trino

Dain is the co-creator of Trino & Presto, and is the CTO at Starburst Data. Dain has a rich past in software engineering dating all the way back to his JBoss days. He and Pete will discuss the surprising insight that led to the creation of Presto while he was an engineer at Facebook, and we’ll also hear about some of the key architectural decisions that were made when creating the project. We’ll also learn about Dain’s current work at Starburst and learn why he joined the company that he believes has the best shot at becoming the heir apparent to Presto.

Dain is a co-creator of Trino (formerly PrestoSQL), co-founder of the Trino Software Foundation, and CTO at Starburst. Prior to Starburst, Dain was a Software Engineer at Facebook, A Software Architect at Proofpoint, founded the Apache Geronimo project, and was one of the original JBoss authors.
