10) Mary Neil
Mary Neil is an orthopedic surgeon, a devoted wife and a loving mother. In 1999, while kayaking in the Los region in Southern Chile, she got into an accident while cascading down a waterfall. Her kayak got pinned right at the bottom, and Mary got submerged in the water completely. Despite the rescue efforts made by her companions, she ended up being underwater for too long and died.
She recalls asking for God’s will to be done right before dying. Right at that moment, she was overcome by a strong sense of comfort and reassurance that all her family would be ok regardless of whether or not she died. She believes it was Jesus Christ who was holding her and giving her peace. She said that at that point she could feel her knees bent back but she wasn’t in any pain whatsoever. She then felt her spirit leave her body and it rose up out of the river. A bunch of heavenly beings who were thrilled to see her came up to meet her. She then saw a wonderful path with structural domes exploding with colour and beauty. She felt like she was going to where she belonged.

Unfortunately, her happiness was cut short when the heavenly bodies told her that her time was out. She came back down where she saw her body now being dragged out of the water. Two men were trying to resuscitate her and she slowly got back to her body and coughed out the last bit of water from her lungs. After fifteen to twenty-five minutes of being underwater it is impossible for her to have not died. But here she was alive, brought back from the dead, to share her story to the world.
9) Anita Moorjani
After four years of struggling with cancer, Anita Moorjani went into a coma. Her husband rushed her to the hospital at that time she felt as though she was slipping further and further from consciousness. When the oncologist assessed her situation, she stated that as much as her heart was beating it was as if she was not there as her body had given up.
‘It’s too late to save her,’ he said while ordering a medical team to wheel her to the radiology laboratory. She was then brought to the ICU where drugs were administered through tubes and needles.

Anita states that in her near-death state, she was more aware of what was going on than ever before. She heard the doctor tell her husband, ‘We are sorry Mr. Moorjani, there’s nothing that can be done to your wife, her tumours have grown to the size of lemons, her brain is full of fluid, and her skin is full on lesions containing toxins. We are afraid she won’t make it through the night.’

Later on, she started feeling herself expanding further and further. She explained her previous emotional attachments break and it seemed as though the being she had become was too big to be housed in what was her body. She felt a mysterious blanket of unconditional love and magnificence surround her. Suddenly she became aware of her father’s presence; he had died ten years ago. She also felt the presence of her best friend Soni who had also succumbed to cancer three years ago.

She felt a sense of heightened awareness and the universe now made sense to her. In the midst of trying to understand who was giving her all this information, she got overwhelmed with the realisation that god isn’t a creature or rather a being, but a state of being and she was then the state of being.
