In 1997, 3dfx seemed to be the greatest option for any 3D enthusiast who wanted to play some games. Few competitors offered anything worthwhile, and tech giants ATI and NVIDIA were still lacking in performance relative to the Voodoo series of cards. But there was one challenger that went a different route-their motto should have been "build it fast, build it cheap, and build it well." That was Rendition. Their Vérité line of cards stood out as one of the few capable cards to challenge the Voodoo-and their design marked one of the few genuine threats to 3dfx. So, are they any good? Is it really worth shelling out for a Voodoo?
