Unboxing an Antique Edwardian Cottagecore Outfit ✨

Thank you to Blair for sending me this beautiful 1910s summer suit! The soutache, the french knots are all to die for in this light blue linen suit that dates to around 1917. This simple, yet gorgeous skirt and jacket combination are what cottagecore dreams are made of, and I'm already starting to look for soutache so I can sew my own version. 😍😍

The late 1910s brought the end of World War 1 and the Spanish Influenza, and though it's safe to say that 1915-1919 were *rough* - at least the fashions were 🔥. This 1910s woman's suit was sewn at home and was possibly remade from an earlier Edwardian woman's outfit. The soutache and french knots were hand-sewn with the rest of the ensemble machine sewn, with a chain stitch sewing machine (so different than the normal lockstitch sewing machine we're used to). This outfit would have been very easy to sew - with a simple skirt and unfitted jacket, and its timeless design works for the 1910s as well as the 2020s. Talk about perfect history bounding outfit inspiration!
