Time capsule in downtown Detroit to be opened in 2104. The Michigan Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument is one of Detroit’s oldest pieces of public art and one of the first monuments to honour Civil War veterans. It is located at the southeast tip of Campus Martius Park where five thoroughfares convene - Michigan Avenue, Monroe Street, Cadillac Square, Fort Street, and Woodward Avenue. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
