There is no magic to the side lean it is ONLY for those that can't get supinated and externally rotate the arm enough

If you can...then just curl normal lol

If you are a immobile muscle bound individual leaning can allow improved loading at the elbow joint and not lateral forces that beat you up overtime from overuse.
