"Before I went to law school I was a genetic analyst working in a lab I did that for a few years. I knew I wanted something where I'd be challenged every day, I knew I wanted to do something where I felt like I was making more of an impact and giving back.

And I had a friend that, her husband was just graduating law school, I had another coworker who was going to law school so that just seemed like the right path to take.

When I was in law school I wanted to be a tax lawyer, which is funny to me looking back that was quite a few years ago. I like the very definite black and white of that but as soon as I graduated school I worked in an office with 14 other attorneys and I was doing criminal cases from day one helping them out and I fell in love with the individual aspect of it, the facts of every case, the pace of it, and that I felt like I was really making a difference in every case and could really have an impact.

A lot of our clients have never been charged with a crime before. A lot of them, by the time they find us, it's the worst time of their life. And my biggest advice would be to get an attorney as soon as possible, really do your research and try and find a firm that's a good fit with you where you're gonna be able to speak to the attorneys, have that personal connection and they're gonna be invested in your outcome."
