Honda Civic Engine Idle Surging Up / Down - Poor Idling P0505 IACV Hot - Cold or Warm Start

Honda Civic Engine 1.5L / 1.6L / 1.7L / 2.0L / 2.0L - S Type

#1- Cold Start. If you start the Engine and the Engine started Surging Up / Down " Right Away " during " Idling ".

A. Your IACV is either " STUCK or BROKEN ". You can try to " Unstuck it " by cleaning it with Carburetor Cleaner to save $$$, after that put it back and it still not normal / unsuccessful, replacement is a must!

#2- Warm / Hot. When you start your Engine and the Engine is " Idling Fine " during Cold Start Up. But 5+ minutes later or when Engine Warm / Hot. Engine started Surging Up / Down during " Idling ". Driving is AOK... NOTE: Only during " Idling ".

A. Your IACV is " DIRTY ". You can try to clean it with Carburetor Cleaner, and if successful. Once you put everything back and it will be " Normal " again, then you are good. If unsuccessful after cleaning, replacement is a must!

#3- Bypass Option. If you don't have money to buy another " IACV " right now.

A. Do a By-Pass or leave the Electrical Connector to your IACV OFF... It will " NOT " harm anything. Just pump your Gas Pedal a few times if you have " Cold Starting Issues ".... But once your Engine is Warm / Hot, Idle will be " NORMAL " again. NOTE: That is the only " DOWN FALL " to this Bypass.

B. Block Off By-Pass - You can make a Gasket and " Block " the 2 holes on your IACV and put the IACV back. It will " NOT " harm anything. Just pump your Gas Pedal a few times if you have Cold Starting Issues.... But once your Engine is Warm / Hot, Idle will be NORMAL again. That is the only down fall to this Bypass.

NOTE: Engine Light will come on, if you unplug your IACV Electrical Connector Harness.
