Domestic Big Cycle: Will China be the next North Korea? Exported products/Total retail sales= 41.7%
Chinese Chairman Xi Jinping said at a meeting on July 21 that China should gradually form a "new development pattern" based on a "domestic cycle" to cope with the shrinking global market and other conditions. This seems to be a new direction for economic development that the CCP is taking.
China has become highly dependent on the world during the decades of economic globalization. It is difficult for China to be self-sufficient. Unless China is willing to live in poverty and supply shortages like North Korea, it is unlikely to become self-sufficient.
