At 12:24 p.m. on April 29, a commercial street building in Changsha, Hunan Province suddenly collapsed. A video on the Internet shows that, along with a loud bang and smoke and dust, the 8-story building instantly became 2-stories of broken walls.
The building is only 100 meters from the Changsha Medical University, and there are several restaurants and snack stores on the first and second floors. The building collapsed when it was lunch time, and it was said many medical students were buried while dining.
On May 6, the Changsha Municipal Government held another press conference, saying that at 3:03 am that day, on-site search and rescue work has been completed for the collapse incident. People who were missing or trapped have all been found, a total of 10 people rescued, and 53 people died.
