Yesterday's Newsreel 1948. Ziv Televsion

Notable in television history, Yesterday's Newsreel is one of the first television shows released by Ziv Television, who later made popular shows like The Cisco Kid, Highway Patrol, and Science Fiction Theater. The series would have the year of an event. This episode includes: 1934 Dollfus Shot! Austrian Chancellor, Mussolini. 1939 U.S. Gains A Possession. Treasure Island off San Francisco, opening and Pageant. 1929, 1949 Aga Kahn and Aly Kahn Wed. Marriages of father, and then son to Rita Hayward. 1925 Personalities. Ellen Perry, English dramatic star, and James M. Barry Playwright open school for blind children, Teddy Roosevelt Jr. and family, Madame Curie. 1931 Nicaragua Rocked By Earthquake. 1919 Aviation. Army has coast to coast flights and race to test reliability of the airplane, pilot The Flying Parson. 1923 Fashions Of The Day. 1927 Sports. Quebec dog sled race, Madison Square Garden track and field. All footage for these programs came from Ziv's purchase of the General Film Library. Yesterday's Newsreel and another show, Sports Album, was Ziv's start in television syndication in 1948. The company was later sold to United Artists for $20,750,000 in 1960.
