Roofers Saving 1920s Historic Clay Roof Tiles in Southern California

The Termite Guy and IRC Services' Roofing Division works carefully to save hundreds of antique clay tiles on a historic Spanish Villa roof of one of the first homes ever built in San Clemente, CA in the late 1920s. The top of the clay tiles are gently removed one by one. The bottoms of the clay tiles are secured to the hot mopped felt with mortar, which must be delicately chiseled away to preserve as many tiles as possible for the new roof. The tiles, which are almost a century old, have gotten very soft with age and weathering. This makes them difficult to preserve for the new roof but the IRC Roofing crew does everything they can for the job.
