Subterranean Termites

These are subterranean termites. They might be small in size, but they can cause extensive damage. They live in the ground beneath and around homes. They work their way into homes through cracks in the foundation or anywhere there is wood in contact with soil.

These termites build distinctive tunnels or “mud tubes”. The purpose of mud tubes is to provide shelter and protection to termites from predators. Over time, subterranean termites can critically damage a building structure, sometimes causing a total collapse.
