Why the EU-India Trade Deal Matters

The European Union and India are nearing a "historic" trade agreement to strengthen ties and bolster their economies.

The free trade agreement would create a market of 2 billion people, accounting for almost a quarter of global GDP, and give European nations "first mover advantage" with India.

India and the EU are expected to eliminate tariffs on more than 90% of goods they trade, lowering import duties across a wide range of consumer and industrial products.
