Zoom-Common problems with breakout rooms
The biggest problem that most teachers have with the breakout rooms is understanding how they work and what that means when using them. In this video I take you through the most common problem that I have when running teacher training sessions with Zoom.
This video is not a training video in working with breakout rooms. If you are looking for complete training in breakout rooms then watch this video

This video takes you through the biggest problem that I come across and that most teachers ask me. Teachers think that when they create breakout rooms they can share content to their students and this is not possible. Once students are in breakout rooms, they are in totally separate rooms that have nothing to do with main room. So for example if the students use the IWB in the breakout room then that is a totally separate IWB to the IWB that is in the main room. So we need to think of ways that we can make sure that what students produce in groups in the breakout rooms can be shared in the main room. I suggest two SOLUTIONS to the problem and two solutions I often use.
Breakout rooms are great but you need to know a few other tips to use them well. I would encourage your students to turn off their webcams when working in breakout rooms. I would suggest you get the students to do a specific task and to choose a group leader who can write up the answers. This makes a huge difference as the students have a task to do and when the teacher comes into the breakout rooms, they can clearly see how well the students are working.
If you have your webcam turned off, it means that when you come into the breakout rooms, you can take a back seat. Your webcam won't be on and if the students are actually doing an activity, it is quite likely they may not even realise that you are in the room listening to them. I found this really helpful.
