The Secrets of Three Incredible Cemeteries for Technology
Three incredible EQUIPMENT CEMETERIES in the world
Arizona graveyard, USA.
Arizona Graveyard is a huge area in the middle of the Arizona desert. Officially, it is known as the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base and is the location of the Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group (AMARG). It is the largest military aircraft graveyard in the world. Its area is equivalent to the area of 1430 soccer fields. Here, 4200 aircraft worth about $ 35 billion have found their final resting place. The aircraft cemetery is divided into four categories: from aircraft that are in excellent condition and can still take off, to those that have every chance of becoming museum exhibits. Arizona is ideal for such a graveyard, as its dry climate helps prevent the aircraft from rusting.
Taxi graveyard, China.
Thousands of decommissioned taxis were left on a site in the center of Chongqing city, China. Traffic jams and environmental pollution have sharply increased in Chinese cities, as a result of the country’s economic growth. Thanks to economic growth, the number of consumers who can afford cars has also increased, which means that many people no longer have to rely on taxis or public transport.
Anchor graveyard, Portugal.
Among the dunes of the Portuguese island of Tavira (Tavira), you can find an impressive anchor graveyard, called “Cemitério das Âncoras”. It was built in memory of the glorious tradition of catching tuna with large nets, fixed by these anchors (a fishing technique invented by the Phoenicians). Tavira was once a place dedicated to tuna fishing. The citizens created this anchor graveyard, in memory of those fishermen who were forced to abandon their favorite occupation, when the big fish left this coast.
