Dan Savage, author of the sex-advice column "Savage Love" and creator of the Emmy-winning "It Gets Better" campaign, has become a leading voice in debates about social issues that affect Americans from coast to coast. In his new book American Savage, he covers topics such as health care, gun control, marriage equality, religion, and parenting. Dan Savage will take the stage at The New York Public Library to discuss a wide range of issues with his signature frankness, honesty, and wit, in a conversation with Andrew Sullivan.

DAN SAVAGE is the author of the internationally syndicated sex-advice column "Savage Love." His books include the New York Times bestseller It Gets Better, Skipping Towards Gomorrah, The Commitment, and The Kid, his award-winning memoir about adoption. A regular contributor to This American Life on NPR, Savage lives in Seattle, Washington.

ANDREW SULLIVAN is an author, editor, political commentator and one of the most widely read bloggers. In 1989, Sullivan wrote the first national cover-story in favor of marriage equality, and subsequently an essay, "The Politics of Homosexuality" in The New Republic, where he later served as editor. From 1996 -- 2000 he devoted his time to writing for the New York Times Magazine and The Sunday Times, and to the campaign for marriage equality for gay couples. In 2000, Sullivan founded The Daily Dish, becoming one of the first mainstream journalists to experiment with blogging. Sullivan is the author of five books; his first, Virtually Normal: An Argument About Homosexuality, was translated into five languages and became one of the best-selling books on gay rights.
