Prince William dragonboats in Singapore, delights local British community

Prince William raced on a dragonboat with expatriates in Singapore on Monday (November 6), ahead of the Earthshot Prize which is being hosted by the city-state this week.
The eldest son of King Charles and the heir to the British throne won the race with the “British Dragons” dragonboat club against a backdrop of Singapore’s most iconic landmarks - the Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay and the Singapore Flyer. Dragonboating is a popular sport in Singapore with many nations, including the UK, having expat teams.
William, the eldest son of King Charles and the heir to the throne, is in Singapore for the annual Earthshot Prize.
The annual Earthshot Prize awards 1 million pounds ($1.22 million) to five winners developing solutions to environmental problems and is expected to attended by celebrities like Cate Blanchett and Robert Irwin, as well as activists, policymakers and innovators.
Ahead of the award ceremony on Tuesday (November 7), William is expected to attend a series of events with businesses and investors with the finalists and winners during the four-day trip. It will be Prince William's first trip to Singapore in more than a decade.
Britain's Prince William met with Singaporean leaders on Monday (November 6) during his official visit to Singapore.
The British royal paid a courtesy call to president Tharman Shanmugaratnam and then later joined a meeting with prime minister Lee Hsien Loong on Monday as part of the four-day visit since Sunday.
