He's not your usual construction worker from Bangladesh. In 2016, Mohammed Mukul Hossine discovered how to become famous in Singapore and beyond - as a poet.

He was featured by international media like Channel NewsAsia, Bloomberg and The Economist, after his first volume of migrant worker poetry - Me, Migrant, put together with the help of Singaporean poet Cyril Wong - was published by Ethos Books.

But if he naively thought he would get rich quick, he was wrong. Soon after, Mukul found himself out of a job, and back in Bangladesh where he grappled with getting recognition as a struggling artist, and the realities of having to support his parents.

Life After Singapore explores what happens to migrant workers after they leave Singapore. CNA Insider producers Goh Chiew Tong and Ray Yeh travelled to Bangladesh - where many of Asia's migrant workers are from - to find out more.
