Champion Within: Introvert's Journey to Breakthrough Success | Nandini Shanbhogue | TEDxYouth@AISD

Nandini Shanbhogue is currently a senior (Grade 12) at the American International School Dhaka. She is 17 years old and has been a badminton player for more than 10 years. She started playing at the age of 5, in 2011 and shares her incredible milestones, awards and achievements along the way. Her goal is to one day travel the world internationally representing her country, The United States. Along the way of her journey, as an introvert, she talks about the power of dreams, how she got into badminton, her passion for the sport and how pursuing it professionally has been a turning point in her life to grow in a mature and positive way. She also shares her struggles with crying, fear of failure and how she learned to be kinder to herself. She encourages everyone whether an introvert or extrovert to pursue their dreams and passions, as it can help them unlock their full potential. She believes that enjoying what you do, acceptance and mindfulness plays a significant role in accepting oneself and being happy, even in tough situations.
Nandini's talk occurred on February 14th, 2024. I am going to talk about my journey of how I came to develop my interest towards badminton despite the challenges, fear of failure and consciousness I had. It relates to the theme "Breakthrough" because it talks about the challenges I overcame as an introvert such as playing freely without focusing on the crowd's noise, being confident on court without thinking, being perfect and getting anxious and giving all my best/not giving up despite how strong the opponent is.
