Did you know that people form opinions within the first 7 seconds of meeting you? This TEDx talk challenges the stereotypical opinions the world has formed around a woman wearing a hijab.

Maliha calls for critical consumption of the media for a deeper understanding of the true essence of the hijab while shedding light on the unjust hijab bans worldwide.

We must see “Beyond the Fabric” for the hijab is more than just a piece of fabric and a Muslim woman is more than what she wears. Maliha is a third-year pre-med student at the University of Regina. Her commitment to academic excellence and campus contributions is evident through her achievements, such as the Academic Silver Scholarship, Ambassador Leader Award, Dean's Honour Roll, NSERC Award, and the University of Regina’s Ambassador of the Year award in 2023. Maliha consistently strives to contribute to the community by volunteering for nonprofit organizations in Regina.
