The biggest hurdle for Electric Cars replacing gas cars is the availability of public charging stations. In general, charging your electric car at home will be the easiest option, and make it more convenient than a gas car, but on a long road trip, what are you supposed to do? Tesla has solved this issue by building Superchargers all over the world on the road to popular destinations. These EV chargers allow you to charge your Tesla at very fast rates, making pit stops as low as 15 minutes.

We decided to not plan ahead, and see what Super charging is like on the road when you last minute decide to go there. What is the food like nearby? How fast does it charge? On the Tesla Model Y screen, it shows you what is near the EV charger including internet, food, and more when you select the charger. In our case, we arrived and saw Rubio's right next door (unfortunately closed right now).

We charged up for about 25 minutes gaining over 130 miles of range in that time and relaxing in the car. Overall it was a very easy, seamless experience that went by very fast. Sure, a gas station would take less than 5 minutes, but with the entertainment built into a Tesla, and a little planning, Superchargers are a great equivalent.

This was our first charge with the Model Y on the road, for somewhat of a Model Y road trip, and it was super easy. How do you plan to charge your electric car on the road? Tesla makes it easy, and I hope other manufacturers will follow with similar electric car charger options in the future!
